The film impressed audiences and received high critical acclaim, highlighting the talent of the young actor Timothée Chalamet, who played the title role. The popular actress Zendaya also mesmerized from the screen next to him. The first movie successfully proved that a sequel is inevitable, and this was officially confirmed by the film crew. The original premiere date of the Dune sequel was postponed to 2024. The original release date was set for November 3, 2023, but Warner Bros. was forced to postpone it.

This also affected the schedule of another important project of the studio – Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, which was postponed from March 14 to April 12.

The reason for these changes was a strike by actors and screenwriters in the United States. The main demands were higher wages and guarantees that AI would not be used to replace them on set. It was a historic event, as Hollywood actors went on strike for the first time in 40 years and for the first time in 60 years, they participated in a strike together with screenwriters.

Due to the strike, the actors could not participate in press conferences, walk the red carpet and give interviews to promote the film. The star-studded cast of Dune, including Zendaya, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Dave Bautista, Christopher Walken and Leo Seydoux, was unable to actively promote this big-budget film, which cost $122 million to produce.

Dune: Part Two – the story

The film is set on the lifeless planet Arrakis, where the world’s most valuable resource, spice, is being mined. Paul, a descendant of the House of Atrid (played by Timothée Chalamet), joins the Fremen, led by Stilgar (portrayed by Javier Bardem). His mother, Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson), also joins them. Together they set out to face a terrible future – a war that will engulf the entire empire.

Dune: Part Two is a sequel to the movie, and is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Frank Herbert. For many years, there have been attempts to film the book without success. In 1984, a version by David Lynch was released, but it was not widely recognized.

The trailer for Dune: Part Two introduced several new characters that were not in the first part – Christopher Walken, Florence Pugh, and Austin Butler.

In particular, Walken played the role of the padishah emperor Shaddam IV, Pugh played his daughter Princess Irulan Corrino, and Butler played the nephew and heir to Baron Harkonnen Feyd-Raut.
