🦈In August 2018, Steve Alten, the author of books about megalodons, said: “I’ve always believed that this is a billion-dollar franchise if you do it right. And to do it right, you had to pick the right shark, pick the right cast, and keep the right tone.”
🦈 About the right shark. There was a script for Meg that the author did not approve. Why? Because it had a shark with wings and growled.
🦈Megalodons are an extinct species of shark that existed approximately 20-3 million years ago. Their teeth were 17-18 cm long. As for the length of the body, scientists estimate the figure at about 20 meters. That is, if the shark stood on the tip of its tail, it would be taller than a 5-story building.
🦈 In the book, megalodons are pure white, almost luminescent, because they live in an environment with almost no light. But it was difficult to reproduce this color in CGI. That’s why the megalodons in the movie have color, just like great white sharks.

However, the government did not allow them to do so, as jet skis are banned here because they are considered environmentally dangerous. Therefore, the scene was filmed in the Phuket area.
🏮In China, the film earned more than $105 million, making it one of the few Hollywood films to make good money in China after the pandemic. Not the least role in this was played by the fact that the movie starred Wu Jing, a famous Chinese actor.
💔As for the sequel, it all depends on the success of the second part, but as director Ben Wheatley noted, there are more stories to tell. In addition, with the absence of a love story in the second part, it is possible that Jessica McNamee, who played Jonas’s ex-wife, will reappear in the third film (if there is one). After all, his heart is still free. But the third movie is a possible future.

Jonas Taylor investigates environmental crimes. He works with a team investigating the Mariana Trench and… a female megalodon living in a large aquarium. Everything would have been fine if the female hadn’t escaped. In search of the creature, the researchers go down to the bottom of the trench, where other animals that were thought to be extinct live. The situation is complicated by the fact that illegal mining is taking place here, and the criminals are trying to destroy the witnesses – the research team – at any cost. Due to the damaged escape pod, people have to get to their station past dangerous creatures. But not everyone will succeed. And then it will be even more interesting, because there is betrayal, racing and, of course, the fight for life.
