Netflix releases trailer for Scott Pilgrim Takes Off anime series

Netflix has released a trailer for the anime series Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, which will be released on the streaming service on November 17.

The eight-episode series will feature the original cast of the 2010 film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (which currently consists of superstars), with Brian Lee O’Malley, the creator of the comic books on which it is based, as co-writer and executive producer. The film’s director, Edgar Wright, is an executive producer.

The series will return to the story of 23-year-old Sex Bob-Omb bassist Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) and his struggle with the seven evil exes of his new lover, Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). Although Scott Pilgrim Takes Off will be based on what happened in the comics and the movie, according to the show’s creators, it will not be a direct adaptation. Wright said that O’Malley’s ideas for the show “were much more adventurous,” Engadget reports.

In addition to Cyrus and Winstead, actors such as Kieran Culkin, Ellen Wong, Brie Larson, Chris Evans, and Aubrey Plaza will reprise their roles in the series. These are now world-class stars.
