Return of the legendary Constructor: what we know about the movie Saw X

In total, the films in this series have grossed more than a billion dollars at the global box office. “Saw X” is not an ordinary thriller or horror movie. These films have their own unique concept, which is even more exciting than the bloody games and intricate traps of The Constructor.

The tenth installment of the series is dedicated to John Kramer’s The Constructor. The creators promise the audience a movie in the spirit of the first and best films of the franchise, during which they will be able to look into the inner world of this villain and see his better, more human side.

The movie takes place between the events shown in the films Saw and Saw 2. A terminally ill John Kramer travels to Mexico to receive a risky experimental cancer treatment. However, it turns out that the “treatment” is a scam to deceive the most vulnerable people. Finding a new purpose, Kramer goes back to work, using his sophisticated death traps against the crooks.

The film is one of the best examples of the symbiosis of such genres as horror and thriller. Dust X skillfully combines suspense, drama and, of course, the most intricate and cruel games from the Constructor.

Constructor reveals itself from unexpected angles

John Kramer, the Constructor is embodied on the screen by the now legendary actor Tobin Bell, who has played great character roles for decades, but became famous only in 2004, after the release of the first film in the series “Saw”. It was his filigree acting that impressed the audience as much as the cruelty of the games. Bell managed to transform the “Designer” from a typical horror villain into a complex and multifaceted character who has been endearing himself to millions of viewers around the world for 19 years.

“Saw X is the story of John Kramer. It’s a window into a certain period of his life, and he takes you on this journey with him,” said Tobin Bell.

The actor himself loves his iconic character and is not tired of working on his development.

“My job is to bring a sense of humanity and reality to John and make the audience think – while they have an amazing experience watching the movie,” the actor said.

Bell believes that the secret to the incredible success of Saw and its “Designer” is the complexity of John Kramer’s character.

“John thinks very carefully about his actions. In each movie, we’ve been able to add layers to the character, starting with the first movie. But this movie will have many incredible, unexpected and deep aspects that will make the viewer look at The Designer with different eyes,” says Bell.

In addition to Bell, who will play John Kramer for the first time since 2017, Shawnee Smith will reprise her role as Amanda Young, the assistant and associate of the ” Constructor.”

The stars of the franchise will be accompanied by Sunneve Makodu Lund, Stephen Brand and Michael Beach. The cast also includes Renata Vaca, Paulette Hernandez, Joshua Okamoto and Octavio Hinojosa.

Thus, in the movie, you can see long-familiar stars and new actors whose characters will become the next victims of the famous “Constructor” games.

The film is directed by Kevin Groiter, who edited the first films in the series, which have been the most successful among fans and critics. He is also the director of the later films in the franchise (Saw VI, Saw 3D) and a real favorite among millions of fans of the series.

He promises that this story will focus on the “Constructor,” which is the center of the Saw universe, and also teases a return to the franchise’s harsher tone: “Maybe it’s not the simplicity of Saw I, but it’s close. “Saw X is an emotional journey that you go on with John Kramer, not a massacre that you experience from the perspective of the victims. Obviously, there will be people who won’t like it, but I think the movie will appeal to people who are not just fans of gore. But don’t worry, gore fans: we’re willing to bet that you’ll be more than satisfied, too.”

Saw X goes back to the beginning

“For the first time in many years, we’re calling the movie Saw,” says producer Mark Burg, “We’re taking audiences back to the beginning of Saw and what they fell in love with.”

Producer Oren Coles, who has been working on the franchise since its inception in 2003 with his producing partner Mark Burg, says Saw X has been in development for a long time, even before the eighth and ninth installments were released.

“We’ve been working on this movie for almost seven years. The audience told us that they wanted a Saw movie in which John Kramer would be a key figure and at the center of the story. This is the first time you’ll see him creating and then setting his traps,” he comments.

The producer argues that this time John’s plans and traps will evoke sympathy from the audience because he is the victim: “Everything that happens to him when he seeks treatment is a fraud, and there’s a kind of catharsis in the way he gets his revenge.”

For all his inventive traps, John, as Kules notes, is the protagonist of the franchise and the victim trying to get out of horrible situations and avenge himself and others who have been victims of these fraudulent medical experts.
