The second trailer for Ridley Scott’s Napoleon – 11 Phoenix out of 10!

The historical epic about a ruthless French general starring Joaquin Phoenix will be released in theaters in late November and later streamed on Apple TV+.

Ridley Scott, the director of Gladiator and The Last Duel, known for his sharp look at historical events and eras, promises a stunning story in his latest production. Napoleon will tell the story of the French military leader’s (Joaquin Phoenix) rapid and brutal rise to the throne of the Emperor in an original and fresh way, through the prism of his dependent and unstable relationship with the greatest love of his life, his wife Josephine (Vanessa Kirby).

The first trailer was released in early July, but the second one presents much more plot details and battle scenes, as well as monologues that reveal Phoenix’s new dramatic role. The episode where Napoleon visits a mummy and compares himself to Alexander the Great and Caesar, furious at the way he is treated by the French nobility, also looks interesting.

In addition, the new video features a slowed-down version of “War Pigs” by Black Sabbath.

Tahar Rahim will appear in the movie as Paul Barras, Ben Miles will play Colencourt, Ludivine Sagnier – Therese Cabarrus, Matthew Needham – Lucien Bonaparte, Youssef Kerkour – Marshal Davout, Phil Cornwell as Sanson Burro, Edward Philipponnat as Tsar Alexander, Paul Rees as Talleyrand, John Hollingworth as Marshal Ney, Gavin Spokes as Moulin, and Marc Bonnard as Jean-Andoche Junot.

In addition to reuniting with Phoenix after Gladiator, Scott is once again collaborating with All the Money in the World screenwriter David Scarpa. The series is produced by Mark Gaffen, Kevin J. Walsh, Winston Azzopardi, Raymond Kirk, Janine Modder and Aidan Elliott.
