Top 10 TV series of October: Loki, Lupin, The Fall of the House of Usher and Lessons in Chemistry

October is going to be very busy with new TV series. In particular, Mike Flanagan’s The Fall of the House of Usher and Brie Larson’s Lessons in Chemistry will start soon. October will also see the release of new seasons of many popular TV series, including Loki with Tom Hiddleston, Lupin with Omar Sy, and Our Flag Means Death with Taika Waititi. The new biographical series promises to tell the previously unknown story of one of the most successful football players in history, the British David Beckham. In addition to interviews with the athlete himself and his famous wife Victoria, the show promises to show conversations with other football and show business stars, as well as previously unseen archival footage.

The series is directed by Academy Award winner Fisher Stevens (The Cove, Palmer).

The miniseries will consist of four episodes, all of which will be released simultaneously.

Lupin, one of the most successful French TV series, is finally back. The plot centers on a charismatic adventurer, Assan Diop, who wants to take revenge on a family that has unjustly accused his father of theft. He draws inspiration for his plan from his favorite character, the “gentleman burglar” Arsene Lupin. At the same time, the hero tries to find time for his son Raul.

The series is starring Omar Sy (Intouchables, Mood Indigo, Jurassic World Dominion). The show also stars Ludivine Sagnier (8 Women, Swimming Pool, Napoleon), Clotilde Em (Regular Lovers, Love Songs), Nicole Garcia (The Gendarme Gets Married, Body of My Enemy) and others.

The third part of the series will consist of seven episodes, all of which will be released simultaneously.

No sooner had discussions about the final season of Sex Education died down than Netflix decided to entertain young audiences with a new daring coming-of-age series. The plot centers on 16-year-old Mia, who, after several months of treatment for an eating disorder, makes a bucket list with typical teenage adventures to make up for lost time.

The main role in the series is played by 26-year-old Australian actress Sophie Wilde, who in 2023 appeared on the big screen in two high-profile projects at once – the fantasy The Portable Door and the horror Talk to Me. Also, one of the roles in the series was played by the famous British comedian Stephen Fry (Alice in Wonderland, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows).

The first season of the series will consist of eight episodes, all of which will be released simultaneously.

The series is an original interpretation of the biography of the English aristocrat Steed Bonnet, who decided to become a pirate. On his way, he encounters many colorful personalities, including the legendary Blackbeard.

The series stars Reece Darby (The Boat That Rocked, What We Do in the Shadows, Jumanji), Ewan Bremner (Trainspotting, Snowpiercer), Rory Kinnear (Penny Dreadful, 007 Legends) and Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows, Jojo Rabbit, Free Guy).

The second season of the series will consist of eight episodes, the first three of which will be released simultaneously, and the rest – two per week with the finale on October 26.

In the new season, Loki will begin to slide uncontrollably through time and space. During these travels, he will realize that the world is in danger of destruction. Together with his partner from Time Change Management, Agent Mobius M. Mobius, they have to solve this mystery and save the world from destruction.

In the second season of the series, Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Owen Wilson (Mobius M. Mobius), Sofia Di Martino (Sylvia), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Ravonna Rensselaer), Wunmi Mosaku (Huntress B-15) and Jonathan Majors (Kang the Conqueror) will return to their roles.

In addition, Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All at Once), Rafael Casal (Bad Education) and Kate Dickey (The VVitch: A New-England Folktale, The Northman) joined the cast of the series in the new season.

The second season of the series will consist of six episodes, which will be released once a week with the finale on November 9.

The fifth Netflix series directed by Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, Midnight Club) is based on the Gothic story of the same name by Edgar Allan Poe, but its events are brought to our time. Now, the plot centers on the CEO of a corrupt pharmaceutical company whose children begin to die in mysterious and brutal ways. At the same time, a mysterious woman from the past appears on the horizon, seeking revenge.

The series stars Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars movie epic), Bruce Greenwood, Carla Gugino, Kate Siegel, Zach Guilford, Samantha Sloane, Rahul Kohli, and a number of other actors who have appeared in Flanagan’s previous series.

The first two episodes of the series were screened at the Fantastic Fest in Texas in September 2023 and received very positive reviews. In particular, on Rotten Tomatoes, it currently has 94% approval from critics with a “Certified Fresh” rating, while on Metacritic it received 74 points out of 100, which corresponds to the characteristic of “generally positive reviews”.

In total, the miniseries “The Fall of the House of Usher” will consist of eight episodes, all of which will be released simultaneously.

The series, based on the novel of the same name by Bonnie Harmus, tells the story of Elizabeth Zott, who became a favorite cooking show host in 1960s Southern California after being fired from her job as a chemist ten years earlier.

The series stars Brie Larson (Captain Marvel, Kong: Skull Island, Fast X). The show also stars Lewis Pullman (Bad Times at the El Royale, Top Gun: Maverick), Aja Naomi King (How to Get Away with Murder, The Birth of a Nation), Thomas Mann (Halloween Kills, Kong: Skull Island) and others.

The mini-series will consist of eight episodes, the first two of which will be released simultaneously, and the rest – once a week with the finale on November 24.

The new season of the animated series will traditionally consist of ten episodes, which will be released once a week. The seventh season will not be the last for the show, as it was previously extended until at least the tenth season.
